Recently we were approached by our friends at Halpenny Golf as they were interested in creating an outdoor artificial teeing facility.
Our sales rep Keith called out and viewed the purposed teeing area and discussed options for the area. Keith and the Halpenny Golf team agreed that an artificial teeing area was the best option for the space and would be appreciated by all the customers.
The idea behind the want for an artificial teeing area was so that they can extend the capacity of the driving range to allow more golfers practice at any given time.
We used a specific artificial teeing grass for this installation, the surface is specifically designed for teeing only, both perfect for indoor and outdoor use It is extremely low maintenance perfect for this busy driving range.. The artificial teeing grass itself is a very tight knit fibre which is the perfect surface for teeing, the fibres are dense and compacted making the artificial teeing grass extremely robust.
We carried out a full install for the installation of the teeing mat, this involves removing approx. 5” of sod and soil, installing 2-3’ of hardcore stone and whacking it in to position, the installation of a treated timber edge is then installed all around the edge like a frame, a layer of 1-2’ of dust is installed and then we install.
The proposed location of the teeing mat was in the middle of the driving range which meant that we had to trundle all equipment and material across the driving range whilst protecting the existing grass.
The artificial teeing surface blends very well in to the exiting grass and is now the perfect outdoor surface for the golfers to practice on.
